Technology Trends 2025 | Trend 1 – Artificial Intelligence Will Become Mainstream and a Strategic Enabler

In 2025, we will see AI transition from experimental to essential, with organizations adopting Generative AI as a core capability, integrating it into operations to drive efficiency, innovation, and competitive advantage. Organizations that fail to adopt it will face an existential threat.

It was only last week when the newly elected white house administration announced the $500 billion Stargate AI venture in a press conference. Oracle’s CTO, Larry Ellison, highlighted artificial intelligence’s potential to transform health care, including early cancer detection and the robotic development of mRNA vaccines within 48 hours. Incredible!

While the success of Stargate will be determined in the coming months or years, the initiative underscores the critical importance of embracing the AI revolution as the key to shaping our future. With AI becoming the mainstream and a vital enabler, we stand at the cusp of a major technological transformation, one similar to the .NET or the e-commerce more than two decades ago. Today, we are not witnessing a mere controlled shift, but an infusion of profound transformation. AI is not just a low-hanging fruit but has evolved into a strategic enabler, empowering better decision-making.

Empowering industry breakthroughs

I was reviewing the 2025 AI & Data Leadership Executive Benchmark Survey and noted an interesting statistic: 89% of organizations believe AI will be the transformational technology of this generation, akin to the internet. This reaffirms my belief that AI, as a catalyst for change, will reshape how we innovate and build business models.

Let’s look at an example of Microsoft Copilot. This powerful AI assistant enhances user experiences by boosting confidence, enabling smarter decision-making, and accelerating innovation. AI models like Copilot create highly personalized, tailored interactions for customers. From healthcare and finance to manufacturing, retail, aerospace, and defense, these tools are driving transformative breakthroughs across industries.

From the ability to detect fraud in real time in the finance industry to predicting user behavior in e-commerce, AI solutions are transforming the way we live and work. For instance, Amazon has successfully deployed so much of AI into their platform— to such an extent that it can accurately anticipate customer needs.

Today, we are witnessing a 24/7 connected world enabled by AI. This means AI adoption must advance beyond experimentation and become fully integrated into the core strategies of organizations, aligning seamlessly with their goals.

Today, there is no conversation without AI

In 2025, organizations will start adopting generative AI as a core capability, integrating it with their operations to drive efficiency, innovation, and competitive advantage.

Why? Let me explain.

Advancements in AI models and tools have made generative AI more accessible than ever. AI systems like Explainable AI and Empathetic AI are transforming the entire agent models that we have today. Businesses no longer require massive data science teams or extensive datasets to harness its power. Instead, they have platforms like GitHub and Copilot that function as enabling developers. This accessibility empowers industries to leverage data science advancements and enable compelling data storytelling. Another reason for the growth of AI is a clear shift in the mindset. Today, there is no conversation without AI or GenAI as it enables hyper-personalized customer experiences, sparking entirely new business models. For instance, the worldwide IT spending is expected to grow by 9.8% in 2025, significantly influenced by generative AI.

Who would have thought that enterprise efficiency management, even in something as straightforward as clearance and settlement, could be transformed by AI into a subscription-based service. Previously, trade processing would take three to four days due to clearance, validation, and settlement processes. Today, with AI, we are talking about T-minus swaps, and in the near future, we could even achieve real-time trade processing.

Our greatest strength lies in staying profoundly human

Let’s face it. While technology is transformative, simply adopting it is not enough. AI, as powerful as it is, remains a developing technology that demands responsible use, ethical considerations, transparency, and inclusion.

The real promise of AI lies is its ability to augment human intelligence, never replace it. By automating, AI frees us to focus on what truly makes us unique—creativity, empathy, and innovation. It enhances efficiency and effectiveness, yes—but businesses that see AI as a substitute for skilled and experienced workers risk losing sight of what drives true progress.

During the Stone Age, when the wheel was invented, some may have feared it would render human legs obsolete. While wheels revolutionized transportation and travel, they did not make human effort redundant, rather, they amplified it. That is exactly what artificial intelligence is doing today. Our greatest strength lies in staying profoundly human, which means embracing empathy, creativity, and ethical purpose. We should lead the technology we create and not be led by it.
