Workforce Upskilling in Java Programming for a Leading Financial Services Provider
A leading financial services provider partnered with GenSpark to enhance their team’s Java skills. Having previously benefited from our Hire-Train-Deploy services for early-career talent, the client collaborated with us again to develop and implement a custom-tailored training program aimed at bridging the skills gap within their existing workforce.
Challenges
Outdated skills in core Java development and a lack of knowledge of modern web technologies and cloud infrastructure were the primary challenges faced by the client. They required a comprehensive, flexible, and customizable solution tailored to their specific needs, aimed at improving team cohesion and enabling more efficient collaboration on future projects.
Our solution
We followed a multi-faceted approach to address challenges:
- Assessment and custom training design: We conducted a comprehensive assessment to identify skills gaps within the workforce. Based on our findings, we developed a 16-week customized training program that covers key technologies, including Spring and Spring Boot, MySQL with Hibernate, REST APIs, and front-end technologies like React, as well as the fundamentals of AWS.
- Collaborative training delivery: We ensured highly collaborative training, involving the client’s management to align with their specific needs. We provided regular updates and feedback sessions to adjust the training as required and keep the client informed of progress.
- Reassessment: Following the training, we reassessed and confirmed the program’s effectiveness, and participants received certifications acknowledging their upgraded skill sets.
Business outcomes
Our customized training program was highly successful, resulting in several key business outcomes:
- Enhanced technical skills: All employees who completed the training demonstrated a marked improvement in their technical capabilities, particularly in Java programming and modern web development.
- Increased team cohesion: Training employees as a group helped them build a stronger understanding of effective collaboration, which enhanced their performance as a team on subsequent projects.
- Alignment with business goals: The upskilled team became better equipped to manage complex projects crucial to the client’s strategic goals, directly contributing to their operational success.
